    Code Name: Ghostaxe

    Age:28

    Picture: http://content7.flixster.com/photo/11/28/07/11280765_gal.jpg

MSN: None, please email to caltech.dave@gmail.com

Purpose: I seek to show that cold analysis can beat emotional reading in the Liar Game.

Skills/Hobbies: I am very good at mathematics and logic. I very, very seldomly outright lie, although I am perfectly willing to say equivocal things that mislead. If you ever catch me outright lying, feel free to call me out on it here.

Biography: I read Liar Game a couple weeks ago for the first time, and loved it. I think I would have done well in Round 2 and Revival for Round 2. I didn't like Round 3 and Revival for Round 3 much because it uses physical abilities and observations I'm not convinced carries to reality.

Mathematics, something I was never good at. Still suck at it, too. Good luck in the tournament.

It's not too bad with the right teachers and books. I started liking it with the "Algebra the Easy Way" series, which is written like a fantasy storybook where the King and the Professor and the Record-keeper have to solve math problems in order to foil the Gremlin who wants to take over the kingdom.

Agreed. Books, maybe, but the right teachers are crucial. If I had known of that book prior, I might have saved myself some grief earlier on. I'll keep that in mind.

Hah, that's so interesting. I've never had a good professor for any of my math-related classes. That's when I figured that I can't be taught, I have to teach myself. The horrible truth of that is, I just figured it out. So, I'm in Engineer's Calculus with a horrible foundation in Algebra, and everyone in my class took Calculus I in high school but me. It's not terribly bad though~

The sad truth is that professors (at least in the US) are paid and get tenure for research, rather than teaching. I took some classes at a local community college during high school, and I honestly thought those were better taught than a lot of my undergrad courses at Caltech.
